(This is the finished piece of the WIP pictured here: observer14.deviantart.com/art/… . I'm very happy this came out in one piece, with only minor warping in the flat sides. It's hard to keep an open box like this straight without a lot of internal bracing. :-P)
This is the urn I have made for my father's ashes. He passed away November 14 of this year. The oak tree has always spoken to me of strength in great age. My father loved trees, so I thought this would be a fitting tribute to him.
(I must say, it's a little weird working so hard to build a sculpture that is going to be buried in the ground... but it's also my last gift to my father... until I see him again in eternity.)
